R. 'Brown Eyes'

Elepidote Rhododendron: 'Brown Eyes'

Flower pink with a golden-brown flare on upper lobes, openly funnel-shaped, wavy edges.  Blooms midseason.  Leaves elliptic to ovate, deep green on a vigorous and tough plant.  Upright, spreading plant habit.  Heat tolerant.  Typical height: 6 ft. in 10 years.  Plant is hardy to -20°F (-29°C).  A Dexter hybrid named by Paul Bosley.

 
R. 'Molly Fordham'

Lepidote Rhododendron: 'Molly Fordham'

Flower inside white with brilliant greenish-yellow spots; outside white with slight streaking, saucer-shaped, 1⅜" across.  Held in flat shaped truss with 7 flowers.  Blooms early midseason.  Leaves elliptic, flat, broadly acute apex, cuneate to rounded base, ¾" to 1" long, semi-glossy, moderate olive green.  Upright, broad plant habit.  Typical height: 4 ft. in 10 years.  Plant is hardy to -20°F (-29°C).  Hybridized by Mezitt.

 
R. 'Tina's Whorled'

Evergreen Azalea: 'Tina's Whorled'

Flower strong reddish purple, strap-like petals.  Inflorescence has 2 to 3 flowers.  Blooms midseason.  Leaves ovate, broadly acute apex, rounded base, 2" long, moderate olive green above, moderate yellow green below, lower surfaces hairy.  Plant grows wider than tall.  Grows to a height of 2 ft. in 10 years.  Cold hardy to -10°F (-23°C).  Hybridized by Clagett.

 
R. prunifolium

Deciduous Azalea: R. prunifolium

Flower usually orange-red to vivid red, occasionally light orange, funnel-shaped, 1½" to 2" across.  Inflorescence has 4-7 flowers.  Blooms very late.  Leaves elliptic to obovate, up to 6" long, medium green, deciduous.  Upright, spreading, open growth habit.  Height: 6 ft. or more in 10 years.  Cold hardy to -10°F (-23°C).  Native species found in the wild in the Georgia-Alabama border area.
