R. 'Nestucca'

Elepidote Rhododendron: 'Nestucca'

Flower white with greenish-brown spotting in throat, openly funnel-shaped, frilly lobes, 5" across.  Dome-shaped truss of 14 flowers.  Blooms midseason.  Leaves elliptic, 4" long, glossy, dark green.  Plant compact with spreading habit.  Height: 3 ft. in 10 yrs.  Tolerates heat and sun.  Flower bud hardy to -10°F (-23°C).  Hybridized by C. Smith.

 
R. 'Kehr's White Ruffles'

Lepidote Rhododendron: 'Kehr's White Ruffles'

Flower white with greenish dorsal botch.  Flat truss holds 2 to 3 flowers.  Blooms early.  Leaf is elliptic, flat, acuminate apex, cuneate base, semi-glossy, 5" long, scaly below, deep green, retained 3 years, deciduous.  Dense growth habit, grows twice as wide as tall.  Typical height: 4 ft. in 10 yrs.  Plant is cold hardy to -15°F (-26°C), buds to -10°F. (-23°C).  Hybridized by Kehr.

 
R. 'Caitlin Marie'

Evergreen Azalea: 'Caitlin Marie'

Flower vivid purplish red, with sparse strong red dorsal spotting, outside has narrow greenish white stripe along petal central axis.  Ball-shaped truss holds 3 flowers.  Blooms midseason.  Leaves elliptic, cuneate base, acute apex, 1½" long, glossy, strong yellow green.  Dense plant habit.  Grows to a typical height of 3 ft in 10 yrs.  Hardy to -10°F (-23°C).  Hybridized by Klimavicz.

 
R. calendulaceum

Deciduous Azalea: R. calendulaceum

Flower shades of orange, scarlet and yellow, funnel shaped.  Sometimes slightly scented.  Truss has 5-9 flowers.  Blooms late midseason to late.  Leaves ovate or obovate to elliptic, up to 3½" long, deciduous.  Grows as an upright, spreading plant.  Reaches a typical height of 5 ft. in 10 yrs.  Insect and disease resistant.  Plant and bud hardy to -20°F (-29°C).  Native species that grows in Pennsylvania to northern Georgia.
