R. 'Haag's Choice'

Elepidote Rhododendron: 'Haag's Choice'

Flower pinkish lavender, held in conical trusses.  Blooms midseason.  Leaves elliptic, acute apex, cuneate base, 5½" long, dark green.  Plant has a dense growth habit.  Height: 4 ft. in 10 yrs.  Plant is hardy to -10°F (-23°C).  Hybridized by Nearing.

 
R. 'Southland'

Lepidote Rhododendron: 'Southland'

Flower light yellowish-pink with brown speckles in throat, openly campanulate, slightly fragrant, 1¼" across.  Held in ball-shaped trusses of 10 flowers.  Blooms midseason.  Leaves elliptic, flat, broadly acute apex, cuneate base, 1¾" long, retained 3 years.  Typical height: 2 ft. in 10 yrs.  Plant is hardy to -5°F (-21°C).  Hybridized by Kehr.

 
R. 'Nancy of Robinhill'

Evergreen Azalea: 'Nancy of Robinhill'

Flower white flushed moderate purplish-pink, lighter at margins with a darker blotch and moderate purplish-red spots, openly funnel-shaped, 3½" across.  Blooms midseason.  Leaves elliptic, 1½" long, light green.  Upright, spreading habit.  Reaches 4-6 ft. in 10 yrs.  Hardy to -5° F (-21° C).  Selected by Hume.  Named by G. Tabor, Jr.

 
R. vaseyi

Deciduous Azalea: R. vaseyi

Flower pale to deep pink, occasionally white, green throat with reddish-orange spotting.  Inflorescence 5-8 flowered.  Blooms early midseason.  Leaves elliptic, tapering at each end, up to 5" long, margins often undulate, deciduous.  Upright, spreading plant habit.  Height: 4 ft. in 10 yrs.  Cold hardy to -15°F (-26°C).  Native species found growing wild in North Carolina.
