R. 'Fort Bragg Glow'

Elepidote Rhododendron: 'Fort Bragg Glow'

Flower strong purplish red with dark red throat and slight dark red spotting on all lobes, openly funnel-shaped, wavy lobes, 5" across.  Held in ball-shaped (somewhat lax) truss of 11-14 flowers.  Blooms early midseason.  Leaves elliptic, apiculate apex, rounded base, 6" long, olive green, retained 2 years.  Rounded plant habit.  Grows to a height of 5 ft. or more in 10 years.  Cold hardy to 15°F (-9°C).  Hybridized by Druecker.

 
R. 'Fragrantissimum'

Lepidote Rhododendron: 'Fragrantissimum'

Flower white with a bright yellow throat, outside flushed rose, broadly funnel-shaped, wavy edged, about 2½" across, very fragrant.  Held in lax trusses of about 4 flowers.  Blooms early midseason.  Leaves ovate, oblong-ovate or obovate, broadly acute apex, cuneate base, 3½" long, rugose, hairy, olive green, retained 2 years.  Leggy growth habit.  Grows to an approximate height of 3 ft. in 10 years.  Suitable for temperate locations - hardy to 15°F (-9°C).  Hybridized by Rollisson.

 
R. 'Hino-crimson'

Evergreen Azalea: 'Hino-crimson'

Flower strong red, darker in throat, openly funnel-shaped, slightly wavy edges, 1⅛" across.  Lax, ball-shaped truss has 6 flowers.  Blooms early midseason to midseason.  Leaves elliptic, cupped under at the edges, heavy textured, about 1" long, glossy, mid green.  Turns bronze to red in cold weather.  Habit is upright and spreading in tiers.  Grows to a height of 2 ft. in 10 years.  Cold hardy to -10°F (-23°C).  Hybridized by Vermeulen.

 
R. 'Hotspur'

Deciduous Azalea: 'Hotspur'

Flower deep orange red, with a yellowish blotch, openly funnel-shaped, frilly edges, about 4" across.  Held in ball-shaped truss.  Blooms late midseason.  Leaves elliptic, acute apex, cuneate base, about 2¾" long, yellowish-green.  New leaves are reddish-green.  Upright growth habit  Grows approximately 6 ft. tall in 10 years.  Cold hardy to -15°F (-26°C).  Hybridized by de Rothschild.  Won an Award of Merit from the RHS.
