R. 'Mist Maiden'

Elepidote Rhododendron: 'Mist Maiden'

Flower pale purplish-pink aging to white with moderate yellow dorsal spotting and deep purple-pink stripe, openly funnel-shaped, wavy lobes, 2½" across.  Ball-shaped truss has 14-17 flowers.  Blooms midseason.  Leaves oblanceolate, acute apex, cuneate base, 5¾" long, convex, yellow-green, retained 5 years.  New growth has grayish-tan indumentum.  Grows broader than tall.  Mounding plant habit.  Typical height is 3 feet in 10 years.  Plant and bud hardy to -20°F (-29°C).  Hybridized by Hanger.

 
R. lindleyi

Lepidote Rhododendron: R. lindleyi

Flower white or cream with an orange-yellow blotch at base, may be tinged pink, fragrant.  Truss holds 2-5 flowers.  Blooms early midseason to late midseason.  Leaves narrowly elliptic to oblong-elliptic, apex obtuse, up to 5" long, upper surface with raised midrib, lower surface grayish green, with distant unequal reddish-brown scales.  Straggly upright plant habit.  Typical height is 5 feet after 10 years.  Plant is hardy to 20°F (-7°C)  Native to Nepal, India (Bengal, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur), Bhutan, China (S Tibet).

 
R. 'Autumn Sunburst'

Evergreen Azalea: 'Autumn Sunburst'

Flower inside strong pink with darker veins, irregular white edges and purplish red spots in throat, outside strong pink, openly funnel-shaped, wavy edges, 2½" across, single or semi-double, slightly fragrant.  Blooms early midseason to very late.  Leaves narrow spatulate to obovate, rounded apex with short mucronate tip, attenuate base, 1⅜" long, leathery, dark yellowish green.  Spreading, well-branched plant habit.  Grows to a height of about 3 ft. in 10 yrs.  Hardy to -10°F (-23°C).  Naturally occurring sport selected by Lee.

 
R. Cannon's Double'

Evergreen Azalea: 'Cannon's Double'

Flower pale yellow with deep pink veins and outer petals, reverse pink, tubular funnel-shaped, wavy edges, double, 2½" across, slightly fragrant.  Dome-shaped truss has 7 - 8 flowers.  Blooms late midseason.  Leaves narrowly obovate to oblanceolate, flat, mucronate apex, cuneate base, 4¼" long, deciduous, matte green, bullate.  Open growth habit.  Grows to a height of 6 - 7 ft. in 10 years.  Hardy to -15°F (-26°C).  Hybridized by Cannon.
