R. 'The Hon. Jean Marie de Montague'

Elepidote Rhododendron: 'The Hon. Jean Marie de Montague'

Flower strong red with dark red spotting in the dorsal throat, wavy edges, broadly funnel-campanulate, 3⅛" across.  Domed-shaped truss holds 14 flowers.  Blooms midseason.  Leaves elliptic, heavy textured, 5" long, dull, mid to dark green.  Dense, upright plant habit.  Thrives in heat and sun.  Grows to a height of 5 ft. or more in 10 years.  Cold hardy to -5°F (-21°C).  Hybridized by van Nes & Sons.

 
R. davidsonianum

Lepidote Rhododendron: davidsonianum

Flower mauve to pale lavender, white tinged pink or pink, often with red or purple spotting or blotch.  Terminal and/or axillary buds hold 3-6 flowers.  Blooms early midseason.  Leaves lanceolate to oblong, up to 3" long.  Upright plant habit.  Grows to an approximate height of 6 ft. in 10 years.  Hardy to 0°F (-18°C).  Native species found growing in the wild in China (Sichuan, Yunnan, and Guizhou).

Evergreen Azalea: 'Rosebud'

Flower strong purplish-pink, flushed with slight veining of deep purplish pink, broadly funnel-shaped, double, hose-in hose, 1⅛" across.  Blooms midseason.  Leaves elliptic, 1" to 1½" long, glossy, mid green.  Spreading, dense plant habit.  Grows to a typical height of 4 ft. in 10 years.  Cold hardy to -10°F (-23°C).  Hybridized by Gable.

 
R. 'Washington State Centennial'

Deciduous Azalea: 'Washington State Centennial'

Flower light orange paling to white, with prominent strong orange-yellow blotch and discontinuous strong pink edge and veins, tubular funnel-shaped, very deeply ruffled edges, 3½" across, fragrant.  Ball-shaped truss holds 10-12 flowers.  Blooms midseason.  Leaves elliptic and narrowly obovate, apiculate, cuneate, 3⅞" long, revolute, glossy, moderate yellow-green, deciduous.  Upright, open growth habit.  Grows approximately 5 ft. tall in 10 years.  Cold hardy to -10°F (-23°C).  Hybridized by Mossman.
