Elepidote Rhododendron: 'Horizon Lakeside'

Flower light yellow with a strong red throat and spots, saucer-shaped, wavy edges, 4" across.  Held in ball-shaped truss with 16 flowers.  Blooms early midseason.  Leaves elliptic, broadly acute apex, rounded base, slightly wavy edges, 4½" long, retained 2 years.  Spreading moderately open habit.  Typical height: 4 feet in 10 years.  Plant and bud hardy to 5°F (-15°C).  Hybridized by Brockenbrough.

Lepidote Rhododendron: R. edgeworthii

Flower white or white flushed pink, may have yellow blotch at base, funnel-campanulate shaped, fragrant.  Truss has 1 to 5 flowers.  Blooms early midseason.  Leaves oblong ovate, rarely elliptic, up to 6" long, upper surface bullate, underside has dense, light tan colored indumentum.  Upright, open growth habit.  Hardy to 15°F (-9°C).  Native species found in the wild in India, Bhutan and China.

Evergreen Azalea: 'Louise Gable'

Flower deep pink, marked on midribs and spotted on lower lobes with strong purplish red, openly funnel-shaped, slightly wavy edges, 2" across, semi double.  Truss holds 4 flowers.  Blooms midseason.  Leaves 2" long, glossy, light green.  Spreading, dense, low habit.  Typical height is 3 feet after 10 years.  Cold hardy to 5 °F (-15°C).  Hybridized by Gable.

Deciduous Azalea: 'Klondyke'

Flower strong yellow, suffused with reddish-orange, with an orange-yellow blotch, funnel-shaped, 2⅜" to 3⅛" across.  Ball-shaped truss holds 8-15 flowers.  Blooms early midseason to midseason.  Deciduous.  Leaves deep brownish-red when new, deep bronze in autumn, mildew-resistant.  Broad, upright, dense growth habit.  Height: 5 ft. in 10 years.  Cold hardy to -15°F (-26°C).  Raised and introduced by Edmund de Rothschild.  Winner of the Royal Horticultural Society Award of Garden Merit.
